Hi, Just starting out with resin infusion to make parts for my rally car and maybe some friends running similar cars. I've tried a test piece with 1,2,3 layers of CF, kevlar and soric to get a feel for strength of different combos so ready to get started with some proper parts.
2 questions immediately come to mind if those with more experience could comment - How soon after clamping the infusion line should you clamp off the vacuum line? Intuitively it seems leaving it open for 5-10mins will help draw out excess resin which minimises unnecessary weight. Am I thinking right or are there other considerations? - How does 200 & 295gsm CF cloth compare for strength? Its 50% more weight but I'm getting the feeling its not 50% stiffer.
Thanks in advance for any pointers and I'm looking forward to sharing details of my progress & hopefully not asking too many stupid Qs

Hi There,
Im also a residend in coventry,
I usually give it a couple on min before claming the vac line,
I havent experimented witrh different carbon weights
i have found 2 layers of carbon and sorric works fine for me

The roof is plenty strong enough with this layup
