Hi Andelise,

Thanks for the post. I'm pleased to hear you'll be getting involved in some great composites processes!

I think the general concensus you'll get from our customers and also the time served advice from us would be that you'll get the most satisfaction and the best results from the Resin Infusion Starter Kit. We generally find infusion to be more reliable and to yeild better first-time results than vacuum bagging. That's not to knock traditonal vacuum bagging as a process but, for the type of parts you want to make and the surface finish you're probably hoping for, I think infusion would be the way to you. If you purchased the Resin Infusion Starter Kit and then decided that you would like to experiment with vacuum bagging as well then you would only need to purchase a few bits and pieces to enable you to do both.

The extra items you would need would be:

Perforated Release Film
Through-Bag Connector (get a 1/4 turn valve and 6mm hosetail barb to go with it)
Breather Cloth (in addition to the small amount we include in the Resin Infusion Starter Kit)

And then you'd just need to use standard laminating epoxy instead of the infusion epoxy.

I hope this helps and look forward to working with you.

Best regards, Matt
