Machining of polyurethane board

We have a request to machine medium and high density polyurethane boards from easycomposites (for a student's project) on a CNC milling machine.  Are there any ready tables of recommeded type of cutters, cutting method (wet or dry), feeds, cutting speed, ect.  Support is appreciated. Thanks

Hi JB,

Thanks for the post. I think I've spoken to you about this on phone.

The PU foams and tooling boards don't really come with any recommended cutting settings for CNC machining. They are of course intended specifically for the purpose (the model boards particularly) and so should machine really well. In general terms, you could use bits and speeds appropriate for MDF on the medium density modelboard and high density modelboards and even faster cutting speeds for the foams which will really present very little resistance to the router.

I hope this helps.

Best regards, Matt
