Hi,

Do you think it is possible to sharpen a carbon composite blade?
I would like to try to make a straight razor blade or a kamisori blade but is it possible
to sharpen the edge like a ceramic blade?
If yes what composite is the best performer for this application?
Carbon, Kevlar, twaron?
Gelcoat or just resin?

Thanks for your help guys.
Kind Regards,
Olivier

Gelcoats have no use on something like a knife-blade..  Does not help anything, it can not be sharpened or hold an edge.

Carbon fibre composites have very high electrical conductivity, and will be detectable by most metal detectors.

As soon as there is just a little bit of metal in there, even a thin strip of steel or titanium along the edge, it will, combined with the Carbon, set of almost all metal detectors.

Knife laws in some countries are a complete shambles, extremely poor "law-writing" passed by populistic politicians, who have no clue as to how things work in the real world.

Right now in Denmark, we have a situation where a very large number of completely ordinary people do not know , and can not tell if they break the law, by carrying small folding knives ..
