Hi,I am making a buck for a nose cone for a kit car. I made the Base shape and then covered in filler, sanded to smooth(ish), and since then I have applied three coats of pattern-coat primer. The first two coats were sanded with 120 grit, the third with 240 grit. I now have the buck really smooth, BUT I have still gone through the primer into the filler in several places.
Despite going through the primer, the surface is now really smooth and even - so my question is, can I move on to the pattern coat high gloss now? Or do I need to ensure that there is no filler showing through the primer? I probably have enough primer for one coat left, but it's taken about 6 hours of sanding on this last coat due to the constant clogging of the sandpaper so I want to avoid another primer coat if possible.
Apologies if this is a stupid question - this is the first time I have tried something like this (as may be apparent from the fact after three coat I'm still going through to the primer!)
