Hi
This is my latest project I did for a man who asked me for..
I had to make a carbon fiber dish, only for soup.. (don't look at the surface or the shape of carbon fiber because it was a test and the carbon was not of quality!)
He told me that after he applied a coat of glossy transparent for food (not dangerous).
First I create molds, usually called split mold.
And this is the result of complete molds
To make this dish I thought about several possible methods, and in the end I decided to create the two separated halves and then merge them
(don't look at the warped shape of carbon, I had problem with this poor quality fabric I bought)
This is the result! I made them with vacuum infusion process and before I applied a thin layer of epoxy gelcoat
I used carbon fiber 160gr, fiberglass 400 gr biax and fiberglass 200gr plain (for the budget of customer).
Excess trimmed away (remember not to look at the shape of carbon ahah)
And then I used epoxy resin mixed with fiberglass microspheres only along the outer edge, but I had a problem because I cut mold edges and I couldn't find the original joint, so they moved a little aside.
Hope you like my little project, next time I'll do it better because this was only a test
If you have tips or suggestions please comment
bye!

Yes I'm thinking other ways like cutting circle for the center part and a ring for the external part.. Or mixing plain and twill
Thanks to you Matt
keep sharing your beautiful projects
