hi
I'm a vehicle painter by trade and have some experience with fibreglass and carbon. Ive been asked to paint an old plastic fuel tank from a yamaha yz 250. They have tried to paint it before with aerosol cans and the paint reacted badly, probably because the vapors from the fuel have seeped through the plastic over time so to avoid it happening again i was thinkin of skinning the tank with woven glass and filler to seal it up before painting as well sealing the inside using something like GTS 1750, but im not sure which resin to use, some suggestion say epoxy but other people have said an isopthalic polyester resin maybe better? can u make any suggestion on the best way forward?
cheers

Epoxys are less sensitive to the additives in modern fuels than polyesters.  However, you will ideally need to seal the tank with a modern tank sealer such as GTS 1750 from Caswell Europe.
