Hi everyone. I am new to making parts out of fibreglass and carbon and want to fully understand best methods before diving into various projects. One project I have is I want to make a hoop style spoiler like the ones found on the tailgate of a Toyota supra. There seem to be different methods detailed all over the net but I thought I would ask you guys for the best. Couple of simple questions:

1. Is it best to make it out of foam first then just glass over the foam?
2. Is it best to make two half moulds?
3. If I make it in 2 halves what is the best way to bond them together so it won't split over time,
4. Best way to sink mounting threads in the base of the spoiler?

Thanks!

Spoilers just are made in 2 pieces, there's no way around it unless you invest in pre-preg and an internal intensifier of some sort like expanding silicone. Could maybe done with vacuum bag but not without practice.

Point is, plenty of high quality spoilers being made in 2 or more pieces. Use the right adhesive and correct bonding procedure and it will take far more force than air turbulence to split it apart. If you get really technical you can build in spars which will both increase strength and bonding area.
