Hi,
About to put an order in of 1kg of epoxy and 1 litre of PVA release, never done carbon fiber before but plan to make some male moulds of some car parts.
The resin option is slow or fast, i'm not too fussed about waiting, but for a newbie anyone suggest which one?
Also, I plan to skin and layer up around a part, should I buy some reinforcing materials to put on the back to strengthen it? Could someone please explain this a bit more please?
Thanks

You can read and watch videos until your blue in the face (that's what I do too) but it's not until you give it a go that you will even know what questions to ask. Unfortunately that means making mistakes too. I decided to make some car parts last year and played around with fibreglass, I did it wrong at least 4 times before I got an acceptable mould made and managed to take a part from it. Even then the part wasn't great so I wrapped it in carbon and now it looks pretty good, even though I made more mistakes wrapping it. Until you start using this stuff you won't fully understand how it reacts and what you can and can't do. In the beginning it is expensive too, I have probably spent close to £300 making a £30 part but I have learnt a lot.
Give it a go but don't take shortcuts if you want a good result.
