I have made a mould from silicon rubber and wish to cast resin based parts in it.
Do I need a release agent for the silicon mould? if yes then what is best

Generally speaking you do not need a specific release agent when releasing most resins from silicone moulds.
You will find with some resins, especially some faster curing resins, that over 10-15 releases, the mould will begin to deteriate due to drying of the silicone. This can be prevented with the use of some pure silicone oil on the mould which helps prevent the drying out.
