Finished the next part for project Fiesta St, the engine cover. As with the door mirrors this is a skin that will be bonded onto the original cover. The original cover has a brushed aluminum badge but the customer just wanted a ghost of the badge on the new part. Just for a changed I decided to use 450grm as the surface layer again with GC50 Gelcoat.

Hi Wozza, can you please share a picture of how the cover has been secured to the mirror, what kind of adhesive was used. any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi, sorry in the rush to get the things on the car I didn't think to take any pictures. The first set were trimmed roughly to size (+2-3mm). The originals given a good clean with panel wipe and then the new skins were bonded on with standard black PU (Sikaflex) held in place with masking tape until cured. Once cured the skins were given a final trim and a quick polish.
Because of the higher temps the engine cover was done using epoxy resin (with some black pigment added). A layer of resin was brushed over the original, the new skin fitted and the whole thing vac bagged.
