Hello Guys

Can anyone recomend a spray tack for epoxy resin infusion ?

I Infused a part on the weekend using Infuzene and it left stringy marks on the surface. Maybe i used to much but it sprays so inconsistently , hard to get only a mist.

I live in Australia so any local help with suppliers would be great.

Thanks

Rod.

Elite Composites sell Aerofix 3. Works well with the epoxy system I am using, but members from here have said it doesn't work well with the Easy Composites IN2 resin. So it does depend what resin system you are using.

Yeh Elite are undergoing a merger at the moment, so a lot of their stuff isn't on the website at the moment. Give them a call or send Phill an email and see if they've got any in stock that they are trying to clear.

Gotta say, I'm not a fan of Kinetix R118, it's awful epoxy. Works well as an infusion resin, but it's properties are pretty poor and it's clarity is sub-par. It's also got horrific UV resistance. For the price you pay, ATL can keep it.

I sent Elite composites an email yesterday , no reply yet.   I know he is a busy man. Will try call today.

What Infusion epoxy have you found Hanaldo ?  I build Rally fairings kits for dirt bikes , everythig is painted so UV stability isnt really an issue. I have found the Kinetix

infused nicely but something that does the same job but is cheaper would interest me.

+1 for the Aerofix 3

Not always easy to do consistently, but I've found that if you mist it from a sistance of 30cm's or so onto the fabric and leave it to settle for a little while prior to placement it doesn't leave any visible surface marks. You don't need much of it on there

Yeh Phill is a touch busy at the moment, but he will get back to you. I've found he normally replies to me after hours.

I personally use Araldite LY 3600, but I purchase it locally so I'm not sure where you can find it over East. If you can find it, it exceeds the R118 in every department, including being $30 cheaper for a 4kg kit.

Oh well there you go!

It does work well for infusion, I use it for everything. It has a mix viscosity of 300-400cps at 25 degrees, so it is a touch slower than the 200cps R118. This only really becomes an issue if you are doing a large part using an internal flow media like Soric, and you don't want to help flow with external mesh. But I have infused a 2.7sqm bonnet using only Soric, and that infused fully in about 40 minutes, so still no where near your pot life. If it does become an issue, just mix smaller batches and refill the pot a few times.

I highly recommend giving it a go instead of the kinetix.
