Im looking to make some fork covers/protectors like in the image below but my forks have a slight taper on them.
I was thinking on using the pvc pipe trick to make some carbon tubes but I'm not sure how well they would fit on a tapered fork.
Any ideas on what i can do?

Thanks

If you make tube the same size as the smaller end of your forks and then have a single longitudinal cut along it then it should likely snap fit on the tapered fork ok??

I'm not sure what bike you have there, but I love the triple clamps, look awesome. Agreed that a vertical slit would be the way to go. I will also add that they should be stuck on so as not to rattle and cause damage to your fork tubes. Something that will be thin and isolate the fork protectors from the fork tubes would be wise, I'd recommend silicon adhesive that is non acidic as this will eat into the aluminum. If you're not fond of having a the slit opened larger at the top due to the taper then perhaps best to make a tapered mold/plug by machining something on a lathe - some hardwood that could be coated for a better finish perhaps. Just an idea. Will be great to see how these come along, I'll probably make some for my bike.

Get some ally bar turned to the same taper and use that as a mandrel.

you could even be clever and have the larger diameter oil seal housing made as a separate bolt on piece and have carbon cover the full length, simply undo it after the resin has set then take the taper out one end and the other piece out the other end.

its possible that the change in diameters could give you problems opening it enough to fit around the fork leg but there's bound to be a work around, flexi resin etc.

Yeah i think thats the way to go, if it doesn't work out i will have to make a tapered plug and mould from that.
Does any one have a link to a thread where they make carbon tube using PVC pipe? I cant seem to find it now

I'm making my seatpost for bicycle saddle rolling a CF sheet rolling it around a smaller diameter pipe to reach the wanted diameter
