Hello,
I am looking for a suitable resin to repair a historic lath and plaster ceiling
The lime plaster (with hair reinforcement) is normally held in place by the plaster being keyed into the gap between the timber laths 
Normally we use a mechanical suspension system with wire and washer to support the plaster where the key is lost 
This system is not suitable in this particular instance as the plaster is only 4mm thick over large areas of the ceiling 
The mechanical system is used to prevent the ceiling from collapse but is not rigid, so  allows for movement .
Is there a resin that could be applied on site that if applied to a mesh to create a series of straps that would hold the ceiling in place but also have an inherent flexibility similar to the mechanical suspension system shown in image. Resin would need to bond to lime plaster and timber and mesh.

I can't think of anything designed for purpose.  You could experiment with mixing a normal resin with fumed silica to make it more paste like.  Certainly one to experiment with on a bit of scrap material to see if it has the desired properties.  You can make it thicker with more silica, add strength with chopped fibres of glass or carbon and make it sandable (at some loss of strength) by adding glass bubbles.  However as its a new use it is all down to experimenting to see if its adequate.
