Hello,
I'm trying to coat the hull (external, above waterline) of my beautiful wooden boat "Skerry" (33ft 1965 Swedish motor-yacht) with the 'Clear Epoxy Coating Resin'. I've applied two coats so far but I'm having problems with running and sagging due to the fact that the surface is vertical or more than... Have you any advice or tips how I can get the stuff to stay where I put it? I will be covering with U.V resistant marine polyurethane varnish when satisfied with the results. Hoping for something like the excellent thickness and finish you get when coating a horizontal surface. I've attached a photo for interest, any help appreciated. Owen.

The only thing I've found helpful, albeit on a much smaller scale, is to allow the mixed resin to tack off a little before applying. Clearly you would need to test this out first, taking into account the ambient temperature and quantity of resin required, but on small quantities I've used it an hour or so after mixing and it's managed to hold better against vertical angles and been less prone to sagging

The nature of the resin is such that it will run on vertical surfaces. The best approach is to use a thinner coat and go over it a second time to get the coverage you want. The thinner you apply it, the less it runs, however the more coats you need to get the desired even finish.
