Hi Guys,

Has anyone ever tried putting foam core panel into the oven?

I am thinking of post curing it at 180  to make it stronger.

I have done an infusion with 5mm pvc core panels and carbon both sides.  Pretty worried about these few things.

1. Will the PVC foam melt?
2. What is the temperature I can bring it up to?

Thanks for reading this and hope to get some good advices.

Cheers

at 180deg it will melt, you can put foam cores in the oven but at lower temperatures. I cook mine at 100deg quite regularly but thats because the material I use can take higher than 100deg

Check your foams datasheet for its spec's

Me too, I cook PVC and Acrylic foams at 100C all the time. It will go soft and reset when cool but will not crush or collapse under regular vacuum only process.

Maybe without a supporting mould there may be chance of it changing shape, especially if there is any mix of carbon and fibreglass in your laminate??
