With the wheel arch and bottom edge returns its a 14 piece mould. As the mould will probably only be used to produce a couple of shells we opted for standard tooling gel to reduce costs on what is already an expensive project.

1 piece mould?
You don't appear to be using unimould, is that simply for costs?

A quick update. 6 days work and 30 plus kilos of resin and the main mould is done, still have door moulds to do.

Brilliant!
I like the wheel arch extensions.
Will the final carbon shell be one single part? You doing the doors as well?
The final shell will be in one piece. We did think about doing it in front and rear clams but because lightness is the aim we opted for a one piece to help with strength.
The bottom halves of the original doors are now part of the new shell, again to add strength. New door patterns and moulds will be made to fit once the shell is done.
Just the beginning of a long journey

The plug is now nice and shiny in 2k top coat. Now the real work begins, mould making.
